Volunteer your time and talents to support GenerationNation, a nonprofit organization that connects classroom learning with hands-on experiences to build civic literacy and leadership from an early age.
One of the best ways for students to learn is through opportunities that connect students with real-life experiences for college, career, and civic life. Through GenerationNation, students explore the community, share their perspectives with leaders, present to public officials, cast mock votes, plan a city, follow news, build civic literacy, and much more. In doing this, they learn how their governments and communities work, understand key issues, and gain knowledge to make a difference as a new generation of civic leaders.
In this volunteer opportunity, you’ll join GenerationNation's Speakers Bureau for K-12 classrooms and after-school/ youth programs. We’ll work with area teachers who request a Speakers Bureau volunteer to schedule a speaking opportunity on a relevant topic (with assistance as needed) at a mutually convenient time.
Relevant experience and speaking topics include:
- Government, law, and courts
- Elections and voting
- Public service
- News media
- Current events and civic issues
- Other nonpartisan topics related to civic literacy and leadership
Join us in committing to GenNation’s mission of civic literacy and youth civic leadership! If interested, please apply and indicate your preferred speaking topic(s). Speakers are assigned based on teacher request and speaker interest.
